The history of the Isle of Man is built around the sea. With fishing forming the heart of the community in towns like Peel, and trips around the House of Mannanan to see the Viking element of Manx history, you may decide that you want a more up close and personal encounter with the driving force of Manx culture.
7th Wave, in Port Erin, is a RYA recognised training centre and can give you the chance to experience sailing in Manx waters. Established in 2006 by an RYA instructor with over 15 years experience and 15,000 sea miles logged, you can be sure of getting the highest standard of safety and tuition during your visit.
Dinghy sailing and taster sessions are available for you, regardless of your sailing ability in either single-handed dinghies or large 2-man boats. Powerboat courses offer a different experience, take place over 1 or 2 days and, again, are available for students of any experience. Theory is included but at least 80% of the course is done on water.
Kids courses are also available, offering sailing, powerboat training, kayaking and navigation while under qualified supervision and in a safe environment. This is also the home of the Manx Youth sailing Squad providing advanced race training and the opportunity to compete off-island.
You can hire kayaks with 7th Wave on an hourly basis and there is no requirement to pre-book.
Further information can be found on the 7th Wave RYA Training Centre website.
