Laxey Woollen Mills, home to the Laxey Manx Tartan, is a great place to visit and get an authentic souvenir of your time on the Isle of Man.
A family owned business and the last working woollen mill on the Island, the mill is situated in Laxey it is a great spot to visit during a trip around the East coast of the Island. In particular it makes a nice centre point to a trip from Port Erin in the South of the Island via steam train to Douglas, then by electric railway to Laxey.
Open all year round on Monday to Saturday the Mill is a short walk from the Electric Railways Station that serves Douglas and can be fitted in nicely after visiting the museums in central Douglas.
Once you have browsed and possibly purchased some of the range of rugs, throws and other woollen items you can take a trip up the 22.1 metre "Lady Isabella" Laxey Wheel or take a 30 minute ride up to the 620 metre summit of Snaefell to try for a view of the Seven Kingdoms.
