Visit IOM’s Competition Winner

Lucky winner of VisitIOM’s prize draw Carole Hearmon won a weekend away to the Isle of Man in our Facebook competition. Carole and her husband won flights from London City to the Isle of Man, accommodation in Douglas at the Claremont hotel and Isle of Man Go Explore Heritage passes after entering our “Question of the Week” prize draw back in November. The lucky couple have recently returned from their winning break to the Isle of Man. Here’s a snapshot of their highlights:

“We had a great time on the isle of Man. We used the bus service to and from the airport and it was excellent and frequent.

We were a little worried about the weather but most of the time it was dry and sunny with a little drizzle for just one afternoon for a couple of hours.

The Claremont hotel was nice and the staff were helpful.

The Go Explore heritage passes you provided were fabulous and we made full use of them travelling on the buses, the steam railway and the electric railway.

We went to the top of Snaefell on the Electric railway although it was totally misted up when we got to the top so we went back another day. We also walked back down from the top - a lovely walk but proper footwear is advisable.

We really enjoyed the Laxey Wheel  -  what an amazing piece of engineering on such a grand scale.  

We also visited Castletown and Peel including both of the castles (again making use of the passes) . We particularly liked Peel castle which was in such a beautiful location and the commentaries provided really brought it to life. The House of Manannan was our choice for the one rainy afternoon and there was a lot to see there. We also headed to the Manx museum with a good collection of old motor bikes . The staff were very knowledgeable about the TT and its history.  “
